Ettrick and Yarrow Valleys
Welcome to the Ettrick and Yarrow Valleys
beautiful peace of scotland

Ettrick & Yarrow Valleys - that's the place for good food & drink

The Scottish Borders is home to a variety of specialist producers and local restaurants and cafes try to source food locally wherever possible. Local produce includes wild game and fresh fish and there is a smokery in Ettrickbridge. The Scots are well known for the quality of their home baking and the Ettrick & Yarrow Valleys are no exception. Many of the cafes offer a selection of mouth-watering cakes and traybakes.

The various inns and small hotels offer traditional pub grub with a local twist; snacks and light meals are available in the cafes and some B & B's offer home cooked meals. Selkirk also has a variety of tearooms, restaurants and takeaways.  Click on the heading or photograph of any of the entries below and this will take you to their website - providing much more information.

The Gordon Arms, Yarrow Valley

Our AA rosette winning restaurant offers a daily menu, Sunday lunch, a tasting menu and vegan menu.  We also have a bar menu and the option to choose from our 'eat at home' menu as well.

Philipburn Country House Hotel

Relax in our contemporary hotel restaurant or enjoy a lighter meal in our cosy bar area.  Savour fantastic food and wine - from fish to fowl to gorgeous game, including delicious meat dishes and vegetarian options.  Special diets catered for too.   You can also choose to dine outdoors on the terrace, overlooking the gardens.

Tushielaw Inn, Ettrick Valley

Located in the heart of the Ettrick Valley, this historic inn with beer garden is a cosy place to stop for lunch or dinner, or just for a coffee and a snack and a blether with mine host who is always up for a chat.  Very reasonable prices.  All welcome and we are dog friendly.  Happy to cater for a group with advance notice.

Waterwheel Cafe, Philiphaugh

Open every day from 10 - 4 pm.  A large selection of delicious home baking, seasonal soups and salads, daily lunch specials, and speciality teas and coffees.  In season, we use produce from Philiphaugh's walled garden - you can taste the home grown freshness.  Available for private functions and we do outside catering.
